Meet Our Undergraduate Researchers!

Gabriela Gomez

Gabriela Gomez is a Research Collaborator under Glen Hordemann for the CTE Project. In her role, she has coordinated mentors, built curriculum, conducted data analysis, and presented a paper at the Frontiers in Education Conference (2024) on how student motivation influences mentor motivation. She is currently working on a second paper. Through her time in the lab, she has gained valuable experience in research, project management, and science communication.

Gabriela joined the lab in Fall 2021 as a mentor for STEM+C. She is pursuing a degree in Biomedical Science and expects to graduate in Fall 2025. Outside of work, she enjoys baking treats that are a hit among her coworkers.

Rory Petersen

Rory Petersen is the CTE Coordinator under Glen Hordemann on the CTE Project. Her expertise lies in overseeing the curriculum, supervising the mentors, and maintaining communication with participating teachers. From the experience she gathered on project, she wrote a paper analyzing key factors in the hiring process for undergraduate STEM mentors. She eagerly anticipates presenting the paper at the Frontiers in Education Conference (2025).  

Rory joined the lab in Fall 2023. She is working towards a degree in Electronic Systems Engineering Technology with an expected graduation in Spring 2027. For fun, she loves dominating on the pickleball court.

Kylee Schroeder Howard

Kylee Schroeder Howard is an REU for STEM+C under Dr. Howell. She has assisted on research papers, and in her new role she aims to author one of her own. Her area of focus will be on mentorship and management. 

In Fall 2022, Kylee joined the institute as a mentor for the STEM+C project. She is pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering at Texas A&M University, with an expected graduation in Fall 2026. In her free time, she designs floral arrangements and hosts riveting game nights.

Kirti Sagar Gadde

Kirti Sagar Gadde is an REU for STEM+C under Jiajia Du’s supervision. She has assisted Du on maintaining the project’s course curriculum, ensuring all information is up to date and reflects the state’s standards. For her research aim, she will study course curriculum implementation from a logistical standpoint.

Kirti originally joined TITIL as a mentor for the project in Fall 2024. She plans to graduate in Spring 2027 with a degree in Industrial Distribution Engineering. Apart from work and school, Kirti enjoys her time with her family and friends and caring for them.

Tanush Yarram

Tanush Yarram is an REU for STEM+C under Jiajia Du’s. He has worked on maintaining CaSMM, the programming instructional tool used for the project. From the data collected, he is using machine learning algorithms to analyze the skill level the children displayed while programming.

Tanush joined the lab in Fall 2023 and is pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematics with an expected graduation date in Spring 2025. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, running, and playing tennis.
