Ting Liu
Ting Liu is a PhD Computer Science candidate at Texas A&M University, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction. Her research investigates how digitally-augmented storytelling, featuring real-time tracking-based tabletop enactment, interactive camera control, and AI-assisted writing tools, supports children’s imagination, embodied interactions, and narrative writing development. She is particularly interested in creating multimodal systems that integrate speech, gestures, and visual feedback to engage children in expressive story creation. Her work aims to develop educational tools that foster creativity and support cognitive development.
Ting joined the lab in 2021 after earning her Master’s in Engineering in Computer Applied Technology (2019) and Bachelor’s in Engineering in Digital Media Technology (2016) from Beijing Language and Culture University. Beyond her dissertation, she has worked on interdisciplinary projects in Computer Vision, AR/VR, and STEM Computing education. Outside of research, Ting enjoys hiking scenic trails and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
