Unit 1. The Ballista

The Ballista Unit brings potential and kinetic energy to life by having students program a motor to launch a block across the room. As they set up the model, they recognize the potential energy stored within it, and when the rubber band releases and the block soars, they witness kinetic energy in action. The unit also develops students’ skills in scientific inquiry and research methods by encouraging them to ask questions, gather data, and identify patterns.

Below we have supplied all the materials for teacher use, but we do encourage anyone to have fun and try building the models!
